Nine years after its release, Clash Royale is making a comeback. What began as a simple tower defense card game in 2016 has evolved into a global community of players who log in daily. From newbies to pros, this game has a perfect mix of strategy and intense competition.
For many people, Clash Royale isn’t just about winning. They connect with their friends by competing in clan events and comparing decks.
“I got into Clash because my friends also played,” eighth grader Siddharth Sivaramakrishnan said.
Some players believe skill still matters more than spending money, even in a game where purchases are common.
“It’s mostly skill-based, but playing does give you an advantage,” eighth grader Vihaan Sharma said. “But you can still outplay higher-leveled players if you know what you’re doing.”
Deck-building remains one of the most famous parts of the game, with each player having their own strategy. Players find unique ways to strengthen their decks to climb up the ranks, making Clash Royale one of the most famous RTS (Real-Time Strategy) mobile games.
“When building a deck, I got balance, good offense, solid defence, and added a few low-cost cards of elixir (a resource like energy players spend to deploy cards onto the arena) management,” Sharma said.
While strategy and balance are important, creativity also plays a big role. This mix helps you adapt to various opponents and prevents your strategy from becoming predictable.
“Copy other good ones, and add your own twist to make better decks,” eighth grader Daniel Ashida added.
What sets Clash Royale apart from other mobile games is the card-like format, quick thinking and long-term planning.
“It has a much more different format and is unique,” Ashida said.
Clash Royale moves at a fast pace. The game keeps players constantly thinking and reacting.
“It’s like chess but way faster,” Sharma added.
Even with consistent updates, players admit the future of Clash Royale can be hard to predict.
“I think they’ll keep adjusting the balance and maybe add more competitive elements in the future like better rewards or leagues,” Sharma said.
Clash Royale has evolved over its nine-year career. At this point, it’s more than just a game. It’s connected people all over the world. Even if the game changes, the thrill never does.
