In 2017, NeeDohs were officially introduced by the toy company Schylling, but it wasn’t until late 2025 and early 2026 that they became a viral trend. NeeDohs became popular because of its huge social media presence and people hunting for them, which led many stores to sell out of stock. In addition, the #needoh hashtag became a viral sensation, with over 247,000 TikTok posts and 156,000 Instagram Reels. In this article, we will be talking about whether NeeDohs are worth buying or not.
Pros:
NeeDohs have more than 25 different types of squishies, but the most viral, trending all over social media, is the ‘Nice Cube’ NeeDoh. Unlike other types of squishies, many popular kinds of NeeDohs have a unique texture. They are dense, doughy, and still slowly rise to their original shape. A description on the official NeeDoh website says, “Available in a range of bright, cheerful colors—vivid pinks, electric blues, neon greens, and sunny yellows—the Nice Cube adds a burst of fun energy to any desk, backpack, or play area.”
“I really like how (doughy) NeeDohs feel because I like how it moves through my fingers,” seventh grader Ada O’Reilly said.
NeeDohs are everywhere – from Amazon to Five Below to airport shops. Similar to the Labubu trend, many people collect or ‘hunt’ NeeDohs, making many stores run out of stock quickly. This makes the trend more alive since the more NeeDohs become scarce, the more people will want them.
“NeeDohs are fun to have because they relieve stress, and you can collect different colors and styles,” seventh grader Annabelle Goebel said. “It is fun to collect them because they are kind of scarce now that they have become popular. As well as this, you can also share them with your friends.”

Cons:
Despite many people enjoying most NeeDohs because of their doughy texture, to some others, they prefer the average bouncy squishy texture more than NeeDoh’s iconic doughy and dense texture.
“I think some NeeDoh textures are very nice, like the rubber ball squishy with spikes, but others are not stretchy or nice to play with,” seventh grader Melody Mei said. “Some feel like really thick rubber and very cheap.”
As well as some others not enjoying the texture of some NeeDohs, many believe that they are overpriced, and agree that there are better alternatives available.
“NeeDohs are relatively overpriced for just being a stress ball/stress reliever,” seventh grader Ceci Bhave said. “Especially with the tie-dye nice cubes, prices can go up to $20. There are many better options out there that have better quality for lower prices, because in my opinion, the NeeDoh nice cubes are quite stiff and have limited color options.”
I surveyed 39 Clague students and found out that 38.5% (15 people) thought that NeeDohs were not worth buying, and 61.5% (24 people) thought that they were worth buying. So overall, out of the students that were surveyed, more people thought that NeeDohs were worth buying.
In my opinion, NeeDohs aren’t worth buying since, as mentioned before, there are better stores that also have doughy-like squishies with much better textures, as well as better prices. I have a NeeDoh dupe, and it has a softer consistency than an actual NeeDoh. In addition, the price was a lot lower.
After reading this article, I hope there was useful information focused on the pros and cons of NeeDohs that helped you decide if NeeDohs are worth buying or not.
