On May 5, 2026, Torchio Feaster, president of the AAPS School Boards of Education, announced that Trustee Don Wilkerson had resigned from the Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education.
“I want to share with our community the news that Trustee Don Wilkerson has resigned from the Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education, effective May 4, 2026, where he served as Board Treasurer,” Feaster said.
Wilkerson has worked for 15 years for the Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS). As a volunteer, PTO leader, and most recently as an elected Trustee and Board Treasurer, Wilkerson has resigned due to his family.
“I understand and respect his decision to prioritize his family at this time, and wish Don and his family all the best,” Feaster said.
Feaster announced that the school board will follow the Michigan Revised School Code and applicable Board policy to fill in for Wilkerson’s spot until the Board finds a new treasurer.
“I am personally committed to ensuring that the process is thorough and open, and that it reflects the trust our community has placed in us,” Feaster said.
Feaster is thankful for Wilkerson’s service to the community and is working hard with the board to accomplish their core mission.
“Our district remains focused on its core mission — creating a world-class system of innovative teaching and learning for every student in our community — and I thank Don Wilkerson for his years of dedication to that mission,” Feaster said.
