On Wednesday April 15 Ann Arbor public schools closed due to district-wide fiber outages affecting all schools and district offices. These are affecting the schools phone system, camera system, building access, fire notifications, suppression and safety system.
According to superintendent Jazz Parks communication this morning, ‘’AAPS is working with the City of Ann Arbor’s Emergency Operations Center, receiving updates on damage across the city that may continue to impact the safe operations of schools. As we assess damage to the schools, we will keep you informed regarding the status of our school buildings.”
Sirens went off at 1:31 a.m. for Washtenaw county for a tornado warning telling people to take shelter in basements or on the lowest level of the interior parts of homes.
Parks also said that some of the schools have suffered some structural damage from the storm, and many schools are without power.
