A clinic with the Detroit Pistons returns to Clague this winter from 4-5 p.m. at the Clague gym Jan. 20.
This is Clague’s third year collaborating with the Pistons to raise funds for the school and the athletics department. Athletic Director Brandon Copeland is in charge of the event.
“Beyond basketball itself, this is about building our school community,” Copeland said. “It’s a chance for students to connect outside the classroom and represent our school on a professional stage. The energy of a Pistons game is incredible, and experiencing it together creates memories and a sense of pride that lasts long after the final buzzer.”
According to the Pistons’s website, “Players of all skill levels are welcome as our one-of-a kind coaching staff is excited to deliver an experience that only the Detroit Pistons can provide. All participants will also receive two tickets to see a 2025 – 26 Detroit Pistons game at Little Caesars Arena and a Pistons bobblehead.”
Eighth grader Francis Badalamente went last year.
“I’ve never been able to watch an NBA game in person before so it was my first one in person,” Badalamente said. “I got to spend time with family and friends.”
There are two packages available: the $27 package includes one ticket to the game and a gift item. While the $65 package comes with two tickets and admission to the clinic. In addition to admittance to the game, tickets include unlimited drinks, popcorn, nachos and hotdogs.
The Detroit Pistons game against the Philadelphia 76ers takes place on March 12 at Little Caesars Arena. Registration for the clinic ends Jan. 20. To register for just the game visit PISTONS.COM/CLAGUE. To register for the clinic as well visit PISTONS.COM/CLAGUECLINIC.
“The Pistons lit up the gym with their high-flying dunks,” Copeland said about last year’s event. “Seeing the student body united by that world-class entertainment right in our own backyard is a reminder of why we work so hard to keep this partnership going and growing. It creates a shared school spirit that you can’t replicate in a classroom.”
