The Forsythe Vikings hosted the Clague Cougars on Jan. 8, 2026, for a two-game match up. Both the A and B teams played at the Forsythe gym. In the first game, the B-team girls were tied 12-12 at halftime. Going into the fourth quarter, the Vikings lead with a score of 16-14. It was still a close game with both teams playing solid basketball and keeping their composure. With 2:51 left in the game, there was a time out taken by Clague due to Forsythe having a scoring breakout, going up 19-14. With 1:16 left in the game Forsythe player number 31 got injured. Any comeback momentum was lost. The game ended, and the Cougars lost with a final score of 23-16.
Following the Women’s B team’s loss, the A team went out to show Forsythe what they’re made of.
Eighth grader Madison Jackson got the first 2 points in the game.
Quickly after, eighth grader Olivia Whitehead was fouled and made both of her free throws to bring the score up to 4-0.

“I was most proud of the first lay up to start the game because my friends, family, and teammates were all happy and cheering me on,” Jackson said. “It made me happy.”
After a quick transition, Whitehead drove to the rim to get a lay up to fall down for a scoring lead of 6-0. Forsythe answered with a bucket 6-2 followed by a big Forsythe three, bringing the score to 6-5. The Vikings went on a scoring lead, making a lay up, allowing Forsythe to take the lead 6-7.
Running back and forth on the court finally paid off, Olivia got another lay up, 8-7 ending the first quarter with the Cougars in the lead.
Jackson started off the second quarter with a tough lay up, taking the score to 10-7. Transitions ran high, and the half ended with a Cougar lead of 10-12.
In the second half, the Cougars had to lock in.
“We needed to keep pressure and have higher energy,” Jackson said.
The girls were able to do just that and pulled ahead for the win with a final score of 26-19.
