The club started because Sarah Xu wanted a dance-related club when she went to Clague, but she never got to make one. When she went to Huron, she thought of the students now who would want to be in a dance club.
K-pop Dance Club, Dynasty, is a dance club organized by high school student Sarah Xu. The club was made last school year. After Kyron Harvell left the principal’s seat and Crystal Fluker arrived, the club had to go through many processes again to continue operating. Many former members thought the K-pop Dance Club would be gone. But on January 22, 2026, a post was uploaded on their social media. The registration opened for all new and past members to join.
“I also just enjoy volunteering, especially when it has to do with dance and I get to connect with other people, so being able to watch all of the girls I’ve taught grow and foster friendships has been extremely rewarding,” Xu said.
In the club, they work on dancing with the help of Sarah’s direction and teaching during each class.
“We work primarily on hip-hop and K-pop dances. I teach choreography and give critiques, all in preparation for Clague’s annual International Night performance,” Xu said.
The club started late this year because of the forms and everything Xu had to redo to continue the club. But with hard work, Xu was able to continue the club.
“There was some trouble getting the club back on due to everything happening with Clague’s administration,” she said. “There were a few setbacks with some forms and timing in general, but I’m thankful that I was able to get Dynasty going again at all.”
K-pop Dance Club will be performing at International Night on May 8.
