When Emeline Landefeld was two years old, she heard the word “soccer,” since then she has become a part of this sport.
“Well I have been playing soccer since I was two,” said Landefeld. “I come from [a] soccer family. I play on the Michigan Hawks, I have gone on the best 76 people in the country, I have played in front of US soccer.”
But to achieve such accomplishments, passion is an important factor. “I love soccer because you have ten other people in the field with you and a whole bench supporting you and your teammates,” said Landefeld. “Whenever I step on the field it’s only me and my game.”
Positions are also an important part of the game. “I don’t have a position, just whatever my coach tells me to play,” said Landefeld. “I like defense I guess”
Soccer also teaches important life lessons. “Playing in front of US soccer and getting invited to an ID two camp,” said Landefeld. “I learned that you just have to be yourself, not the person you want to be.”
And at times, Landefeld has even felt like giving up.“Once I had this coach that was harsh on me, but I loved the game so much I couldn’t give up.”
Throughout her life-long relationship with the sport, Landefeld has grown and learned, not only as a player but also as a person.
