Art impacts us all, studies even shows that the colors you use can sometimes define how you are feeling at that very moment.

Art is a way for people to express themselves. Some people may feel like art is difficult or challenging for them. Others might believe art is easy or fun and they enjoy it.

People have to express their feelings in many ways and sometimes just talking about it doesn’t help.

People have so many different emotions, just look at little children. They haven’t fully learned yet how to control their emotions so they just let them all out. Whether it’s a happy scream, a scared whimper, or an outburst of crying. Sometimes all of these can be shown in less than a minute.

According to voicesofyouth.org, “Expressing your emotions through art is a healthy way of coping and expressing our emotions and feelings.”

Artists often use their work to get a response from people viewing it. There are several masterpieces that are well-known for evoking feelings from those who appreciate the artist’s work. The cool thing is that you may see and feel something completely different than me. That is the beauty of art. For example, the piece called The Scream by Edvard Munch, is famous for evoking fear and anxiousness.

Art inspires and is inspired by many things. I had the opportunity to speak with a young local artist. Artist Nusaybah Virk shared that her inspiration comes from her religion and faith. Most of her pieces reflect the Arabic calligraphic writing which is beautiful and pretty but also ties in for her, her connection with her faith.

I feel like one emotion I can pour into my art is the love I have for my religion especially my own interpretation of Islam and how I feel about it,” Virk said.

Colors, shapes, and so many other elements of a piece of art can indicate the way someone is feeling, even if they don’t know or realize it.

Study shows that the colors you use can sometimes define how you are feeling at that very moment. For example, you could use shades of red or orange and it could mean you’re feeling rage. If you use dull colors, it could mean you are feeling sad.

Sometimes in art, you discover an emotion you didn’t even realize you were feeling. In fact, many great artists did not realize themselves that they did not see it before or think of it.

Which emotion does the art you made show?
