Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS). The cancellation was made in acknowledgement of the below freezing temperatures weathering between 5 degrees Fahrenheit to a low of negative 4 degrees Fahrenheit. Cold days are issued in conjunction with the increased risk of contracting frostbite when waiting for school transportation in subzero climate.
“The closure decision is based on the cold weather advisory with forecasted arctic masses resulting in dangerously low temperatures and wind chill on Tuesday and Wednesday,” AAPS said.
The decision was ultimately based on the concern of safety for AAPS staff and students.
