Art is one of the exciting electives offered at Clague Middle School, and Sarah Griesinger has been inspiring students with her teaching for over eight years, including three wonderful years at Clague. Griesinger shares her passion through art.
One of the things Griesinger loves most about art is the chance to share creative expression with her students every day. She finds it amazing to see how different students interpret the same assignment in unique ways.
“This really helps them discover their visual voice and personal style,” Griesinger said.
Griesinger teaches art because she believes it makes the world a more beautiful and interesting place. She also feels that art helps us understand each other’s experiences better, which is an important part of life.
In her own artwork Griesinger often uses watercolors because they are accessible and easy to work with. When she was in college, she enjoyed printmaking the most.
And if she could teach another subject, Griesinger said orchestra.
“I played the viola for eight years when I was a student and really enjoyed it,” Griesinger said. “I’m a big fan of music. It’s so special to create a big sound with a group of people; it’s a truly unique experience.”
