Clague Middle School’s student council is proud to collaborate with Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor (RHMC) for their first drive of the school year. RHMC’s purpose is to support families through their child’s medical obligations. From Sept. 24 to Oct. 24, a box outside the main office holds the donations that will contribute to RHMC’s goals of providing a “home away from home.”
Cheyenne Taylor, Clague English Language Arts teacher, is the advisor of Student Council and leading this operation. She adds on her intentions with the drive:
“Ashley Clague once said, ‘Live in service to our community,’” Taylor said. “Service is a value that our school was built on and it is important to give back.”
As a non-profit organization, members of the community, including Clague, are the vital components in accommodating these families with the essential supplies and care needed. Requested materials that will make an impact include:
- Coffee pods (K cups)
- Individually packaged chips, pretzels, trail mix, cookies, cereal cups, and oatmeal
- Microwavable soups, pasta, and noodles
- Paper towels, paper plates, plastic utensils, and napkins
- Individual meal containers (Tupperware)
- New fleece throw blankets (purchased or homemade)
- “All Free & Clear” brand detergent pods
- Trash bags
“October is National Children’s Health Month.” Taylor said. “We would like to collect items and supplies to help families while they navigate their children’s illness.”
