Mega pop star and mastermind songwriter Taylor Swift recently won a Grammy for her studio album “Midnights” at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Upon receiving her 13th Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album, she revealed, to the ecstasy of all her fans worldwide, that she would be releasing a new album on April 19, 2024.
“I’m so excited for Taylor Swift’s new album because I just love all of her songs and it’s very exciting that she’s releasing more songs,” seventh grader Emma Jung said. “Also, since she’s releasing the album on April 19, which is right before my birthday, I’m even more excited.”
The album, titled “Tortured Poets Department,” certainly sounds slightly different from her previous ones, dramatic as well. According to Entertainment Weekly, the first look at her new album was shared shortly after she made the announcement on Instagram, and contained a picture of what appeared to be a prologue to her album. It reads, “And so I enter into evidence / My tarnished coat of arms / My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, tick, tick of love bombs / My veins of pitch black ink,” and ends it with, “all’s fair in love and poetry”, and finally, the note is signed as “Sincerely, the Chairman of The Tortured Poets Department.”
Lots of speculation about what the album could be is going on as Swifties around the world eagerly anticipate the pop star’s newest album, such as the meaning or what the album could be about— after all, many know her as the creator of countless break-up songs. But regardless of the story she tells through the songs in this album, it’s clear that her songs will be loved, as they always are.
Emma Jung is a fan who will love her music no matter what.
“I think they are good because I really like lyrics and they make me feel good whenever I listen to them,” Jung said.
The spring season is definitely an exciting time for Taylor Swift’s fans, not just because of her new album, but also because Swift’s Eras Tour film will be streaming on Disney+ starting March 15 of this year.
