Q: Tell us a little about yourself.

A: Hi! I’m Claire Hurley. I’m 13 years old and I go to Clague middle school. I enjoy learning new things, reading, drawing, history, singing and acting.”

Q: What is your favorite class and why?

A: I really enjoy English and social studies: social studies because I like learning about history, and English since I’ve always liked learning about words, writing and reading.

Q: What hobbies/sports/clubs do you do and why do you like them?

A: I play soccer, and I’ve been on the same team for about 6 years. It’s more of a social thing at this point. Also, I am part of Art Club, YPT (Young People’s Theater, it’s basically a theater program for young people, and it’s really fun). I take vocal lessons, and I also do Girl Scouts. I like soccer since I get to talk with my friends, and physical exercise is always good. I like Art Club since I didn’t get to do art classes this year but I still wanted to do something art-related. I like YPT since theater and performing have always been interests of mine, I enjoy Girl Scouts since I get to have lots of fun activities and hang out with my friends, and participate in vocal lessons to improve my voice so I can sing the best that I can!

Q: What is one thing you have learned since the start of the pandemic?

A: I’ve learned how much social interactions and seeing my friends mean to me. I took this for granted for most of my life, but after being so isolated from people for a year, I realized it’s something I realized is very important to me, even just waving at people in the hallway.

Q: What’s an interesting/unique fact about yourself?

A: Well, a picture I took got printed in a magazine once, since it was a finalist for a photography contest. It was really cool to see it on the page!”
