Q: Tell us a little about yourself.

A: “I am an eighth grade teacher at Clague Middle School. I love science! I started teaching 13 years ago, and I originally wanted to be a doctor. I took a lot of math and science classes, and I fell in love with the classroom, so it was an easy transition. I am a mother to four beautiful children Brianna, Kathryn, Javi and Clara.”

Q: What is your favorite class and why?

A: “Growing up, I think my favorite class depended on my teacher. For me, it was more about the relationships I built with my teachers, than anything they were teaching. I had a teacher named Mrs. Kelley, who taught English, and she really stuck with me. Something Mrs. Kelley did that I think was really cool, was that she used to have me stay and eat lunch with her, since I was new to the school. I really enjoyed that connection she allowed me to have.

Q: What hobbies/sports/clubs do you do and why do you like them?

A: “I swam in high school and in college. I thoroughly enjoyed just being on a team… I love team sports. My softball team went to state, but now as an adult, I do more recreational sports; I go skiing with my kids, and it’s the highlight of our winter. I love to get outside, like hiking, biking, swimming, exploring and traveling.”

Q: What is one thing you have learned since the start of the pandemic?

A: “I learned what relationships were the most important, like what I missed the most, and who was the first person I wanted to see. Even who I could trust. I think trust is a really big thing. I also got a puppy during the pandemic… She’s huge now! Her name is Mazie. She’s a chocolate labrador. ”

Q: What’s an interesting/unique fact about yourself?

A: “An interesting fact is that I’m a foster parent. I’ve fostered 4 different kids over the span of 6 years. Very recently I had 2 kids that I had for about 2 ½ years, that just went back to their mom, and we still stay in close touch. One of them is 17, and I taught her how to drive. ”
